PART-TIME GEOLOGY CONSULTANT

Nickel Road Operating LLC is seeking a part-time Geology Consultant. This work requires integration with NRO Geologist and Engineers to enhance the design and execution of development drilling programs and subsurface evaluations across the Denver Julesburg basin. Consultant will have the ability to integrate subsurface information, including geological, petrophysical, geochemical, and production data to high-grade areas within established producing areas. Demonstrated experience with horizontal drilling operations/geosteering and resource plays is required.


Responsibilities:

  • Report directly to VP - Development & Geology.
  • Plan wells and create Geoprogs with support from other Geologists, Engineers, Operations, and Regulatory staff to drill safe wells as cost and time-efficiently as possible to deliver wellbores that are 100% completable and meet all wellbore goals.
  • Select and collaborate with vendors and coordinate their work.
  • Provide geologic operations (geosteering) support during Nickel Road Operating’s horizontal drilling program.
  • Provide 24/7 geological support during drilling operations on one or more rigs.
  • Integrate, evaluate, and interpret geologic and drilling data in real-time as it flows from the rig to provide stratigraphic position assurance during landing and the lateral section of wells.
  • Work and collaborate with an extended multidisciplinary team to establish and achieve team goals.
  • Understand, follow, and encourage others to follow all safety procedures both in the office and field.
  • Maintain excellent communication among team members to ensure safe and cost-effective decisions are made during drilling.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be legally eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Master’s degree in Geology is preferred
  • Experience in the DJ Basin is preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years related experience with an oil and gas operator
  • Working knowledge with IHS Kingdom software for mapping structure, reservoir properties and facies and producing well log correlations, cross-sections and well-seismic calibration
  • Experience with Kingdom geosteering software is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience planning and monitoring horizontal wells
  • A working knowledge of geosteering techniques
  • Experience with log analysis
  • Ability to communicate technical data through the preparation and presentation of clear, concise and persuasive oral/written opinions, reports and presentations
  • Team-oriented with good interpersonal communication skills and the ability to integrate with others while maintaining a positive and productive work environment
  • Extremely organized with the capacity to plan, prioritize, and complete multiple projects concurrently
  • Ability to deliver outstanding results with minimum supervision



FULL-TIME SENIOR OPERATIONS ENGINEER

Nickel Road Operating LLC is seeking a full-time Senior Operations Engineer for its Denver office.  This position will focus on planning, design, execution and analysis of development drilling and completion program work for NRO’s DJ Basin assets.  The work requires integration with geology, engineering, regulatory and operations to ensure reliable execution and delivery of our development drilling programs across the Denver Julesburg basin.  Demonstrated experience with horizontal drilling and completions engineering in resource plays is required.  The candidate will also provide production engineering and surveillance of wells post-completion, including optimization of artificial lift systems and recommendations for well intervention workovers when required.


Responsibilities:

  • Report directly to Co-President responsible for operational execution.
  • Plan wells and create drilling and completion procedures with support from Geology, other Operations, and Regulatory staff to help ensure that delivery of NRO development wells meet safety, cost, and time-efficient wellbore goals.
  • Assist in pricing, selection and collaboration with service providers and coordinate their work.
  • Provide drilling and completions support during Nickel Road Operating’s horizontal drilling program.
  • Focus on timely and accurate cost tracking and reporting 
  • Provide production and workover support for Nickel Road’s existing and future development wells, including optimization of artificial lift systems and driving LOE reduction efforts
  • Work and collaborate with an extended multidisciplinary team to establish and achieve team goals.
  • Understand, follow, and encourage others to follow all safety procedures both in the office and field.
  • Maintain excellent communication among team members to ensure safe and cost-effective decisions are made during drilling, completion, production, and workover operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be legally eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is preferred
  • Experience in the DJ Basin is preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years related experience with an oil and gas operator
  • Proficient in all aspects of safe, efficient and effective well construction
  • Demonstrated experience in drilling and completions engineering for horizontal, multi-stage frac’d wells
  • A solid working knowledge of COGCC requirements governing well construction and execution in Colorado
  • Ability to communicate technical data through the preparation and presentation of clear, concise and persuasive oral/written opinions, reports and presentations
  • Team-oriented with good interpersonal communication skills and the ability to integrate with others while maintaining a positive and productive work environment
  • Extremely organized with the capacity to plan, prioritize, and complete multiple projects concurrently
  • Self-motivated individual.  Ability to deliver outstanding results with minimum supervision
